Property and Conduct Policies

PHOTOGRAPHY & FILMING
Clients may photograph or film themselves or their own children where appropriate. Unauthorised photography or filming of other clients, children, staff or private areas of the property is not permitted.
Commercial use of photographs or video taken on the property requires prior approval from MHRC.
PROPERTY ACCESS & LOITERING
Mildura Horse Riding Centre operates from a private working property. Clients and visitors must remain in areas relevant to their lesson or activity unless given permission to access other areas.
Unauthorised access to paddocks, yards, sheds, arenas, equipment areas or other restricted areas is not permitted. Clients are asked not to remain on the property after their lesson or activity unless a prior arrangement has been made.
GATES, EQUIPMENT & PROPERTY
Please leave gates as you find them and do not move, operate or use equipment, vehicles or property belonging to MHRC without permission.
HORSE WELFARE
The welfare of our horses comes first. MHRC may alter, shorten, postpone or cancel an activity where weather, ground conditions, horse welfare, equipment or safety concerns make the planned activity unsuitable.
BEHAVIOUR
Aggressive, abusive, threatening or inappropriate behaviour towards staff, clients, children or animals will not be tolerated. MHRC reserves the right to refuse service or ask a person to leave the property where their behaviour creates a safety concern or is otherwise inappropriate.
CHILDREN & SUPERVISION
Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children when they are not actively participating in a lesson. Children must not enter horse areas, use equipment or wander around the property without permission.
COMMUNICATION
Clients are responsible for maintaining current contact details and communicating with MHRC regarding their bookings and lesson packages.
Where a substantial period of time, generally one month or more, passes without communication regarding an active package or ongoing lessons, MHRC may consider the remaining lessons forfeited. Clients are responsible for keeping in contact and ensuring their lessons are used before the package expiry date.
POLICY UPDATES
MHRC reserves the right to update these policies from time to time
Approved riding helmets must be worn when mounted. Appropriate enclosed footwear with a suitable heel is required for riding. Clients without appropriate safety equipment may be unable to ride and the lesson may still be considered used.
DOGS & ANIMALS
MHRC has dogs that live and work on the property. Client dogs and other animals are not permitted on the property unless specifically authorised by MHRC beforehand.
Clients must not feed, handle or interfere with MHRC's animals without permission.
SMOKING
Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on the property.

Lesson/Purchase Policies

These policies apply to all lessons, packages, programs, camps and activities at Mildura Horse Riding Centre.

HOT WEATHER POLICY
For the safety and welfare of horses and riders, lessons may be moved to an earlier time or postponed when temperatures are forecast to reach 33°C or above. MHRC reserves the right to modify or cease activities at any time if conditions become unsafe, regardless of the forecast temperature.

WET WEATHER & ALTERNATIVE LESSONS
Lessons will continue during wet weather where conditions are safe and suitable. If riding is not practical, lessons may be adapted to include groundwork, grooming, horse handling, tacking and untacking, bridle and saddle care, changing saddle gullets, equipment care, stable management, equine theory and other practical horsemanship skills.
These activities form an important part of a rider's education and are considered a lesson. If a client chooses not to attend because the lesson has been changed to a non-ridden or wet-weather lesson, the lesson will still be considered used and will not be refunded, credited or rescheduled.

GROUNDWORK & UNMOUNTED LESSONS
Mildura Horse Riding Centre is more than simply a riding school. Groundwork and unmounted horsemanship lessons are a compulsory part of our program and may be included at any stage of a rider's education.
These lessons teach essential skills including horse handling, leading, grooming, tacking, equipment care, groundwork, stable management and equine knowledge. Clients cannot opt out of required groundwork or unmounted components of the program simply because they prefer to ride.

LATENESS
Clients are expected to arrive on time and ready for their lesson. A maximum lateness period of 20 minutes applies. Arriving more than 20 minutes late will result in the lesson being forfeited. Late arrival does not extend the lesson time, and lessons finish at their scheduled time regardless of when the client arrives.

CANCELLATIONS – 48 HOUR POLICY
Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice will be forfeited. This includes cancellations due to changes in personal plans, transport issues or choosing not to attend. Exceptions may be considered at MHRC's discretion in genuine emergencies.

ILLNESS
We understand that people can become unwell unexpectedly. However, due to the nature of the business and the preparation required for each lesson, lessons cancelled due to illness will not be rescheduled unless a medical certificate is provided. The usual 48-hour cancellation policy still applies where applicable.

LESSON PACKAGES
All lesson packages have a stated expiry date and must be used within that period. Packages are non-refundable.
Unused lessons cannot be carried over after expiry unless specifically agreed to by MHRC. Packages may only be transferred to another person with prior approval from MHRC and communication with the original purchaser. The original purchaser remains responsible for communicating any intended transfer.
If there is no communication regarding a package or ongoing lessons for a substantial period, generally one month or more, MHRC may consider the package or remaining lessons forfeited. Clients are responsible for maintaining communication and using their package within the stated expiry period.
PAYMENTS
Invoices and payments are due within the timeframe stated. Outstanding accounts may result in lessons or bookings being placed on hold until payment is received
